We got under way again and didn't get far before my bike got vapor lock. I had no idea what that was so I was reporting it to Jesse as it was going on. I was hoping to make it to an exit. Jesse's bike was over heating too, so he stopped us in the Y of an off ramp. This is where he gave me a hat to put on, we held one of my t-shirts over Cooper and waited for the bikes to cool. There was no shade there other than a passing cloud, which felt REALLY GOOD. Cooper still had ice in pack in his crate, so it was better for him than it may have been without it. We waited for about half an hour. No one stopped, though there was a lot of traffic.
Finally we decided to try the bikes. We had no trouble getting going again. We continued to the next exit where we went to another Denny's where we had ANOTHER fantastic waitress. We stayed for a long time because when we were there a trucker named Mike from MA said there was a big storm coming. We went out to cover our bikes then came back in to talk for a long time with Mike. He knew the mechanic who did the work on Jesse's bike before we left MA.
Cooper totally enjoyed the break from the bike. It had been too hot and we were all glad to be off the bikes. Cooper slept next to me in the booth in Denny's as Jesse, Mike and I talked about motorcycle roads all over the US. Mike told us of all kinds of places we should try to visit. No one even saw Cooper. He was relaxing and had no interest in socializing right then. He just wanted to enjoy the comfort.
