This ride has become personal to me. It is in memory of Brian Mello, a rider whom I've never met. He was hit and killed while riding his motorcycle.
He was very newly married. His widow Elisa was left to try and cope without much help. She was financially incapable of managing and had such a difficult time since there were no programs to help someone in her situation.
Thanks To Elisa there is now funding for riders and their family who are hurt or killed in a motorcycle accident. This year was The 7th Annual Brian's Ride. There were over 1,000 bikes, the biggest turn out ever.
This was personal to me because when Jesse went down on his bike and broke his leg, the funding from Brian's Ride helped us by paying our mortgage for three months.
I'll never miss another Brian's ride. Cooper doesn't know the significance this ride has in our lives. But we love our home and we still live there because of Elisa Mello. Her dedication to make sure no one goes through what she did when her husband died saved me from losing our home.
Wonderfully said Paula.
