If you know anything about old houses, the stairs are STEEP!
My house was built in 1890. Poor Cooper with his long body has a tough time. If he isn't careful he can overshoot the step and could tumble. He never has, but close. So now that he's about to turn 13, I come down behind him with a leash on him so I can catch him if he falls. I really think he appreciates that and understands it keeps him safe.
