During our trip to NY on our vacation of '09 we visited Jesse's daughters and grand children. When we visited Jessica, Jesse's youngest daughter, we got to spend time with Braeden who was about nine at the time, and Jesse who was about three. Braeden showed us how he could ride his rip-stick. We had never seen one before, so to see it was amazing to us. Braeden entertained and impressed us with his abilities. Cooper watched and wanted to chase Braeden, but we didn't allow him to.
When Braeden was done showing us his talents, Lil' Jesse wanted to show us how he can use Braeden's old skate board. Jesse bent over holding the skate board on the ground with his hands and took off running, pushing the skate board as fast as he could until he reached the end of the side walk. He picked up the skate board, turned it around and ran full speed all the way back to us. Cooper again wanted to chase, but the answer was still 'no'. Lil' Jesse continued to do this back and forth a few times with us praising him as we had Braeden.
When Lil' Jesse lost interest in the skate board, it was Cooper's turn! Cooper was on leash but close enough to the skate board to reach it. He put his paw on the skate board and went to step up on it with his front feet. The skate board rolled out from under his foot, so Cooper barked at it. I allowed him to approach it to try again. He got both front feet on it this time before it rolled out from under. Another try proved to be more successful and he was able to keep his front feet on the board and walk with his back feet pushing it as Lil' Jesse had but slower. With practice and experimenting, within about five minutes Cooper was running with the skate board as Lil' Jesse had. He wasn't able to direct the board as Jesse had, and he had to be put on a long leash to allow some distance, but he had a great time.
I had meant to get an old board from someone for him but lost sight of that idea. He really enjoyed his test ride on these wheels that were just his size. I would still like to let him have more time with a skate board to see what he might do with one now. Wouldn't it be funny if he was another one of those dogs who can actually ride with all four feet on the board like those dogs you see on YouTube?
