Settling In

I know the chickens like their new box...

But Cooper might not be so sure.

In the other box he could stand on the floor and look in any time he wanted.

This box is so high he needs to stand on the chair to see into the box.

The chickens seem to like it though.  

Especially the new furniture. (perch)

Bigger Box For The Chickens

The chickens needed a bigger box.   

The one they were in wasn't big enough because they had grown so much in 2 weeks.

Look who can't let it happen without him looking in...

Cooper likes to make sure everything is ok.

Pecking At A Beam Of Light

Chickens will peck at anything shiny.

A beam of light came through the window and shined on the side of the box for the chickens to see.

I thought they were so cute that I got the video to show you, then I turned around to see this.

He had been sleeping.

I guess the chickens woke him up.  

He's like the cranky grandpa who complains that the kids are being too loud.

Doesn't Know

These chickens make a lot of noise.

They're so independent at one day old.

Cooper likes them but doesn't know how to interact with them.

Checking On The Chickens

This is so cute.  Every now and then Cooper will go check on the baby chickens.

They're happy and warm under their heat lamp.

It Passes Inspection

This chicken coop will do quite nicely.

Cooper seal of approval.

The chickens will be quite happy in here when they're old enough to live outside.

He Seems To Like The View

 He seems to like the coop.

He looked through the whole thing and now checking out the view.

It's so funny he likes to check out every inch.

Checking Out The Perches

These will be perches for the chickens.

Cooper checked them out too but had no interest in perching on them.  

He's no chicken!

Checking Out The Laying Boxes

 He's so curious.  Leave it to him to see the laying boxes.

I put him in one. 

He loved it!

Building A Chicken Coop

This is our version of "Helping" to build our chicken Coop.

Me with a broken foot... I'm not much help.  When I laid on the hammock to keep Warren company while he worked, Cooper saw his chance.

He did a GREAT JOB!!!

Our Chickens Are So Tiny

Look how tiny they are.

It always amazes me that they don't need a mommy when they're this little.

12 New Sisters

We decided to get chickens.  

This is something Cooper has never been around, so it's going to be all new.  He's curious but cautious so far.

Amazing Blue

If you look at yesterday's post you'll see Cooper's first blue hair.  

Little did I know then that it would be able to look as AMAZING as this!

First Time I Colored His Hair

I can't help but to show you this picture from 10 years ago this week.

This is the first time I ever colored Cooper's hair blue.  I didn't know if I'd like it... and I knew even less how much I'd LOVE it!

School Hall

This was quite a while ago.  We were in the school I work in.  I loved taking him to work with me.

And he really enjoyed the huge space and all the smells.  He was so well behaved and listened to everything I said.

Where Did He Go?

Cooper usually sits in the same room as me most of the time.

One day he was somewhere else for a while.  

I found him in the guest room all by himself.  Enjoying the chair and the sun.  Love this boy.

In The Breeze

Cooper comes to the door when he's ready to come back in.

But sometimes he'd just rather put his nose in the breeze.

Missing Rick Wood

We are at the beginning of another riding season without our good friend Rick.   

This man was such an amazing person with abilities to make charitable things happen in HUGE ways.  He is missed by SO MANY!

Tow Truck Memory

Truck broke down in a blizzard.

This is NOT a favorite memory for me.

Though Cooper was interested in the activities.

He sat in the tow truck and watched what he could.

And he watched the snow come down.

And he made sure he could see me everywhere I was.

Surprisingly Comfortable

Cooper was surprisingly comfortable with this little goat.

This was a fun day that the whole town usually goes to.  I hope this kind of thing doesn't get canceled this year.

Trying To Beat The Rain

This is always a great story to tell.

We had to run from a storm... or get wet.

It came down a little on us, but the heavy stuff was coming for sure.

The best part was I got Cooper's picture in my mirror.

And sometimes I got both of us.

All I have to do is look at these pictures and it takes me right back there.
