Check out the Blog Archives to read about our cross country motorcycle road trip from MA to CA in the summer of 2011. During that trip we attended the Annual 2011 National Women On Wheels® Ride-In in San Jose CA. Then we just rode. We traveled over 11,000 motorcycle miles in what ever direction we wanted to go for 61 days. We visited friends and family, saw the country, met some amazing people. We made memories we'll never forget. These memories are what THIS BLOG is made of! That was only the beginning. We've been traveling and riding and blogging every since then. Enjoy our stories while we make MORE memories worthy of posting here for your enjoyment.

Trying To See Out The Windows

The blizzard delivered a lot of snow.  Cooper loves to look out the windows in the cellar when the wood is high enough under the window for him to climb up.

Imagine his disappointment when he tried to see out the window after the blizzard.  He could see the sun coming in, but couldn't see out.

He turned to look at me and barked at me as if to tell me something.  I wish I had a translator.  I'd love to know what he said to me.

Staying Warm During Our Power Outage

We lost power for about 13 hours during the blizzard.  It was cold out so we knew it was going to get cold inside before too long.

Our house is set up so that we could close off the front of the house both upstairs and down, and warm the kitchen, 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with the gas stove.

Knowing you can't just burn gas like that without carbon monoxide poison, I did what was more reasonable.  I put 2 huge pots of water on the stove and brought them to a boil.  With a lid on each pot, I turned both burners down to simmer and left them that way for the night.

The pots of water acted like radiators, warming the air in the kitchen.  We kept the bedrooms 55º and the kitchen maybe 64º while the power was out.

We brought big chairs into the kitchen so we could hang out in there comfortably.  Cooper and Gabrielle were happy with the arrangement.

Wanna Help Shovel

Watching from the window, Cooper was VERY interested in the activities of picking up and throwing snow.

He would have loved to be part of this game, but if we had let him out there he would have gotten SOAKED.

Nobody wants to share a bed with a wet dog, no matter how cute he is.

No matter how nicely he asks.

Bringing In The Wood - Part 4

Inspecting our work?  No.  He's not inspecting.

I'm inside the cellar.  He's outside WANTING to come in.  He has no idea how he's going to do it.

I can't show you how he got in because I needed both hands to help him.  So I'll just tell you.

I held the wood still for him to step on till he could get close enough for me to reach him enough to lift him.  When he was close enough I put one hand out, holding the wood under him with the other hand.  He put his paw in that hand.  Then I let go and reached to him with my other hand.  The wood shifted when I let go.   He put that paw in my other hand.  When I had both front paws and started to left him he jumped toward me with his back feet and I caught him.

TEAM WORK.  He's so smart!

Bringing In The Wood - Part 3

Sometimes it's fun to ride the load it it doesn't roll around too much.

He only gets to ride on top if the load won't roll out from under his feet.

See how much he loves it?

Bringing In The Wood - Part 2

Here's the reason why Cooper did what he did yesterday.

If you read yesterday's blog, you should go back and look.  This is so cute I wanted to show you a piece at a time.

So, now is the part where he wants to ride the wheel barrow back for the next load.

He's so funny.  It's a deep jump so he likes help getting in.

He lets me lift him in and then it's time to bark and announce his happiness.  He's so funny to watch.

Bringing In The Wood - Part 1

Here we go again.  Cutting and bringing in fire wood.  It's a job Cooper LOVES.  He gets so excited to see all the commotion.

He knows everything.  Here he is, knowing that this wheel barrow load will be dumped down the bulk head.  So he waits there to watch.

Check out tomorrow to see why it's so important for him to wait there.  You're going to laugh.

Look at the views from the Pacific Coast High Way.

Reflection - memorable entries I've made over the last 2 years.

This Entry (click) was memorable and took a few days to tell.  It was impressed by the way my accident was handled.  I was VERY proud of the way Cooper  behaved during the whole ordeal.

I've decided to reflect back to past blog posts for the next 10 days.  These are favorite memories for me.  They are days Cooper seemed very happy too.

Getting A Puppy Pedicure

Cooper hates getting his nails cut.  I try not to do it too often because it makes him a little nervous.

He sits and lets me do it.

What choice does he have, really.

Look at his face the poor thing.

When it's time to do his back feet I flip him to his back so I can get to his feet.

I think his back feet are more ticklish than his front.

Meeting Miss Daisy

Last week I sold my big desk that I no longer need.  The folks who came to buy it had a beautiful little Springer Spaniel named Daisy with them.

Cooper had to spend his time at the threshold while we were carrying out the pieces of the desk.  It was hard for him to do, but it was IMPOSSIBLE when he realized there was a beauty in that car.

When we were done loading the desk I asked Daisy's parents if she could come in to see Cooper.

In they came!

First Cooper

Then Daisy

Doggy Circles

I tried to get good pictures of them, but were never still.

So, I'm sharing their energy with you...

In one blurry picture...

After another.

Snuggling After Work

Cooper misses me when I'm gone.  He follows me around all the time when I'm trying to put things away after work.  I pack my lunch for the next day, set up the coffee pot for the next morning, wash my thermos, etc.  All the while Cooper stands at my feet watching me.

Finally when I get to sit down to check email, Cooper is really happy.  He jumps up on the recliner with me and laid hard against my leg.

See how happy he is?

I just run my fingers through his hair.  It's getting so long.  He really loves when I massage his whole body.

My happy boy.
