Check out the Blog Archives to read about our cross country motorcycle road trip from MA to CA in the summer of 2011. During that trip we attended the Annual 2011 National Women On Wheels® Ride-In in San Jose CA. Then we just rode. We traveled over 11,000 motorcycle miles in what ever direction we wanted to go for 61 days. We visited friends and family, saw the country, met some amazing people. We made memories we'll never forget. These memories are what THIS BLOG is made of! That was only the beginning. We've been traveling and riding and blogging every since then. Enjoy our stories while we make MORE memories worthy of posting here for your enjoyment.

Bringing Jesse Home :0)

Day after day for nine days Cooper and I made the journey to see Jesse in the hospital.  It became our routine. Cooper was out of sorts most of the time.

Cooper began to play a little bit at home after the sixth day.  His playfullness increased in length with each passing day.  He began to bring me his favorite ball that Buffy game to him.  He started to run at top speed again while outside.  He chased me around the car a couple of times too.  It was fun to see him so happy again.

On the day we would be bringing Jesse home, we did things as we had all week, so Cooper couldn't tell what treat was in store for us today.  We drove to Boston, parked in the parking garage, walked to the hospital and made our way to Jesse's room.  As we turned the corner to enter Jesse's room, Cooper's head popped up in attention and surprise to see his Daddy sitting in a chair with real clothes on!   He went to him and smelled his legs and feet.  He seemed to understand that this day was going to be a little bit different than the others.

We didn't stay.  Jesse was ready to go.  Cooper didn't get on the bed.  We had a short conversation with Jesse's roommate, then said good-bye to the nurses as we left.  We made our way out of the hospital, down the street and into the parking garage.  I saw Cooper look up at Jesse a few times as he trotted between us.  I wondered what he was thinking.

When we reached the car I unhooked Cooper's leash and had him get in the car.  Jesse got in too and Cooper took his place on Jesse's lap, all ready to take Daddy home.  He looked very happy.  He seemed eager for the car to move.  Once under way he sat happily on Daddy's lap as we headed toward the highway.  Once on the highway he laid between us in the car and slept most of the rest of the way home.

This picture is about 4 months old,
but a nice family pic of me and Cooper crashing Jesse's nap.
For the first time in a week I went to Andy's house, leaving Cooper home with Jesse.  He didn't even care much that I was going without him.  By the time I got home, Cooper seemed to be very much himself for the first time since this whole thing began.  I can honestly say, "Welcome Home" to Jesse and Cooper.  It's nice to have my boys back to normal.
