Check out the Blog Archives to read about our cross country motorcycle road trip from MA to CA in the summer of 2011. During that trip we attended the Annual 2011 National Women On Wheels® Ride-In in San Jose CA. Then we just rode. We traveled over 11,000 motorcycle miles in what ever direction we wanted to go for 61 days. We visited friends and family, saw the country, met some amazing people. We made memories we'll never forget. These memories are what THIS BLOG is made of! That was only the beginning. We've been traveling and riding and blogging every since then. Enjoy our stories while we make MORE memories worthy of posting here for your enjoyment.

Tornados In Massachusetts?!

We had some weather of uncharacteristic nature here in Massachusetts recently.  It's unlikely that we ever have tornados or hurricanes here.  It was really devastating to some folks in the western part of the state.  By the time it got as far east as we are it had downgraded to heavy winds, lots of thunder and lightening and some rain that was heavy at times.  Cooper has never had any fear of the weather.  He can experience a storm without much more than a startle to wake him during loud thunder, then he will lay his head back down to resume his nap.

During this storm, Cooper seemed unusually unsettled.  It wasn't like him at all to growl when he hears thunder, or to duck his head low as he watched the intense lightening show outside our windows.  It was dark out, so without the lightening the skies were pitch black.

Our lights went out a few times due to the winds, but they came back on within just a couple of minutes.  We had candles lit in case the lights did go out for good.

As any proactive, ready for emergency people would be, Jesse and I put a few things in my big red bag and we also made sure we had Cooper's bag ready with a couple of days worth of his good packed too.  If you have been reading my blog for a while you know Cooper gets a little tense if he knows we're packing to go somewhere.  He has never known me to pack 'just in case', so to him, we were going somewhere.  I didn't pack his usual bag, so he was a little confused as to wether he was going too or not.  SO...  what does a dog do to communicate that he wants to go too?

He does his best to pack himself into the bag
that he's sure is going on the journey.

As awkward as it was, he teetered and balanced on this bag until I left the room, at which time he followed me everywhere waiting for the indication that we would be going somewhere with those bags I just packed.

When the storm warning was over Cooper watched me unpack my red bag.  I put everything away leaving the bag ready for me to take to work in the morning.  Cooper finally became more himself and relaxed his guard on our every move. He was satisfied in that we were in for the night.  Things then became more typical where we could hang out together until time for bed.
